You've no doubt heard and read the advice about succeeding on the internet. But if you changed your focus, you could do better. It's all a question of mindset as to how you see your role in internet marketing.
1 Give a lead. Don't bother going head on with your competition. All that energy can be used to make sure you become a leader in your area. Instead of trying to defeat your competition, go beyond them with your knowledge and the quality of your work. Of course, you can learn from them and see how you can improve on them. But look to yourself and your business as your focus on being the go-to business for your niche.
2 Be creative. That means you need to be creative in every area of your business. Each particular function, system and process can be improved - some say as much as 10%. You have to have the means and methods to keep generating new ideas and new ways of seeing your business. In other words, be at the cutting edge and not simply following others. You need to be unique and stand out from the rest.
3 Valuable communication. Think of yourself as an educator rather than a producer or seller only. Unless potential customers understand why your product is important for them and how it can be used to develop their business, it's less likely they'll buy. This process of education can continue after the sale, leading to more sales.
4 Delete fear. That is, don't focus on it. Some people have a conscious fear of failure and others have an on-going anxiety about what might happen. Rather, envision your success, your business when it's achieved its goal, and focus on that. Also, focus on it long term, not just when you start up
