Mediocrity in Your Home Based Internet Business

Ever get in a funk in your home based internet business? A bad cycle where you just cannot seem to make any headway? I know I find myself there at times. All I feel I do is spin my wheels and pressing the gas more only makes it worse. Sometimes you just need a change. My hometown baseball team is good example. The Baltimore Orioles are the worst team in baseball. They flat out stink; at least according to the standings. The truth is that they are not nearly as bad as their record shows. They have a lot of talent on the team but just cannot seem to find their way.

In an effort to get things going in the right direction, the Orioles announced they were hiring a new manager (they had an interim manager after the last guy got fired). When the new skipper, Buck Showalter, took control of the helm, what do you know…they won. Then next night, they won again.

Now, I know two wins in a row is hardly cause for a declaration that this team is going to win the American League pennant or even win the AL East (not even close). This is not the point. The point is that just the idea that things are going to get better changes everyone’s attitude…including the players. And we all know that attitude dictates altitude. Has Buck Showalter done anything in his first two games as manager to change how this team plays baseball? I hardly think so. But the change of manager to a guy who has a winning track record is likely having a huge impact on how this team thinks about playing baseball. And that is all the difference.

So what does this mean for your home based internet business? Well if you are grinding away at your business and not seeing the results that you want then change it up. Take a different approach. Perhaps you need to look at alternate ways to generate traffic to your website. Maybe you need to tweak your copy so you have higher conversions. Perhaps your autoresponder series is dull and not generating orders. Whatever it is, make a change. Learn a new skill. Outsource something that you aren’t very good at. Study what successful people are doing and try to learn from them. The very act of doing this can refresh your mind and get you thinking like a winner again. And if you think like a winner, sooner than later, you will win.

Of course, it must be said… if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. If your home based internet business is doing well and getting good results stay at it and leave well enough alone.
